Frequently Asked Questions
We want to make sure you feel welcome when you come here. Here’s what you can expect when you visit Somerset Church:
What's The Music Like?
Sunday mornings are for celebrating the great love God has for us! We go vertical through a mix of music styles. People in our community like hymns in church, Christian music with a beat, Bluegrass and Country. We even sometimes do Celtic. We don’t have each one each Sunday but we work to provide diversity in music style. Prior to the start of service, the latest Christian music is played (again with variety in style) and you’re encouraged to sing along!
What's The Message Like?
Our pastor works (and prays!) to bring messages which are simple, practical, and relevant to our daily lives. There’s often a bit of humor (often corny) and always thought-provoking stories.
What Should I Wear?
Wear what you want! Whether it’s a 3-piece suit, or shorts and flip flops, we want you to be comfortable. The point isn’t how any of us look; the focus is on connecting with God. The Bible says in 1 Samuel 16:7, God doesn’t look at the outward appearance, but He looks at the heart. So, if He doesn’t consider your attire a major concern, neither do we!
Where Do I Park?
We have a parking lot on the east side of the church. We have overflow parking at the school.
What Kind of Church is Somerset?
We are about helping people find and follow Jesus. We believe scripture holds the answers to life and salvation. Through scripture, we can know God’s will for our lives. We focus everything on Jesus, learning straight from the Bible, and connecting with our community. We are United Methodist which means our primary focus is grace. We see ourselves as family of faith. It’s fun when the family gets together. We can encourage each other, pray with and for each other and laugh together when we’re gathered together as one family. All are welcome in our family! So Welcome Home – we’re glad you’re part of our family!
